Great Vespers
Saturday, October 14th
6:45pm, The reception of the Holy Relics followed by Hierarchical Vespers. The reception of the Holy Relics is the most pivotal part of the evening! We will gather outside the church and joyously follow the Holy Relics of these awesome Saints into the church.
We are blessed to be receiving the Holy Relics of St. George the Great Martyr and Trophy Bearer, Patron Saint of our Parish, St. Barbara the Great Martyr and St. Haralambos the Priest Martyr and Wonderworker.
Coffee and refreshments will be offered to all following the service.
Please note that Sheffield Ave. will be closed from Diversey Avenue to Lincoln Avenue. Valet will be present to guide all of the faithful. There is no need to worry about parking as Sheffield Ave. will be cleared and only available to those attending services at Saint George and of course parking will also be available in our lot.
Orthros, Consecration, and the Divine Liturgy
Sunday, October 15th
7:45am, Orthros
8:45am, Consecration procession around the church building followed by the Consecration service and the Divine Liturgy.
Please arrive by 8:30 to prayerfully participate in the procession and to not miss the consecration service which happens once in the history of each church!
His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael together with Fr. Chrysanthos, Fr. Peter and visiting clergy will pray the Orthros service outside under a tent in front of the church. At the end of Orthros, the faithful, led by the Holy Relics, will proceed around the church three times, marking out the land as sacred ground. When the doors are opened, the clergy will proceed into the Church with the Holy Relics, followed by the faithful and the service of the Consecration will take place followed by the Divine Liturgy.
Names of the living and deceased will be placed in the Holy Altar and will remain there forever.. If you would like to have your names included, please give a list to a Narthex member or email the Church office.
This is one of the most beautiful services in Orthodoxy. Our church will forever be set apart as a holy ground, a place where we and future generations will worship.
The Consecration committee has planned a beautiful lunch reception following the Service in the Community Center. We ask that you join us and share in our joy.
